Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth, while they wont make you any wiser, they certainly have the potential to cause you great discomfort. Your third molars, or more commonly known as wisdom teeth, are usually one of your last sets of teeth to grown through, usually between the ages 17-25.

Complications arise with wisdom teeth is when the jaw is too small to accommodate the additional molars. This can cause a range of issues including:

  • Pain
  • Gum Infections
  • Bad Breath and taste in the mouth
  • Decay (to the wisdom teeth themselves and to neighbouring teeth)
  • Teeth crowding and misalignment
  • Ulcers
  • Difficulty opening and closing mouth

If you start to experience any of these issues, we strongly advise that you book an appointment and speak to our experienced dental staff, who can organise an effective treatment plan.

Implant Placements
Implant Placements

In the past, there was nothing worse then loosing a tooth due to tooth decay or trauma such as a sporting injury. Fortunately, there is a perfect solution, a Dental Implant. The implant consists of a titanium “Root” that is screwed into the jawbone. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a porcelain tooth shaped shell, similar to a crown, is placed over the implant and bonded to it. It usually takes approximately six months for the implant to integrate with the jawbone.

Dental Implants have a very high rate of success, and are quickly becoming the standard for tooth replacement, as the tooth can be treated in much the same way as a natural tooth.

Root Canal
Root Canal

If the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected or damaged, a root canal is the final chance to save the tooth from extraction.

First, we start by creating an opening in the tooth, through the crown to access the diseased pulp at the centre of the tooth. The pulp is removed from the tooth, and the root of the tooth is cleaned, and enlarged using a series of thin files. This removes all tissue, preventing the chance of infection, and giving a strong foundation for the filling.

The tooth is then medicated, and then the root canals are filled. Once this has been completed, the tooth is filled with a temporary packing material, and once the procedure has been deemed successful, a new crown made of porcelain will be fitted over the tooth to seal it.
